  This will mark Germany’s 20th appearance in a World Cup tournament, and their journey to appear in the Qatar 2022 World Cup was a fairly easy one, to say the least. Germany was able to secure a place at this years’ World Cup by only losing 1 game during the 10 qualifying games. This defeat occurred during the 3rd qualifying match against North Macedonia. During this fixture, North Macedonia was able to make the most of their 30% possession and capitalising just as the half-time whistle blew. Germany was able to pull it back to 1-1 shortly into the second half, however, the deciding blow came from Elif Elmas in the dying minutes of the game. Scoring the winning goal with just 5 minutes left of normal play remaining.

  Germany’s most substantial victory occurred during their 9th fixture against Liechtenstein as the final whistle blew a 9-0 victory for the Germans. Capitulation occurred during the 9th minute as Jens Hofer was sent off for Liechtenstein after just 9 minutes of play. With İlkay Gündoğan scoring the penalty. Shortly after, Daniel Kaufmann for Liechtenstein sent Germany 2-0 with an unfortunate own goal. However, their misfortunes didn’t stop there as during the 22nd and 23rd minute - Leroy Sane and Marco Reus both scored within 60 seconds of each other, giving Germany a comfortable 4-0 lead. The second half was also not a good time for Liechtenstein as they conceded another 5 goals over the remaining 45 minutes - with the final scoreline being 9-0.

  With this being Germany’s 20th appearance in this famous competition, Germany is often a star attraction and a fan favourite for neutrals due to their world-class talents. Having Hansi Flick as the manager of the German national side will surely bode well with his aggressive style of football.

  If Germany can manage to blend their experienced legends along with their world-class potential superstars, Germany have the opportunity to make it far in the Qatar World Cup 2022. Of course, only time will tell, however, but you shouldn’t have them written off early on in this year’s competition.

Gündoğan has 54 caps for Germany and has scored 14 goals for his country. Making him a viable threat to break up the lines of play and opening spaces for attackers to exploit.

  Manuel Neuer is likely to retain his position for Germany as he has proved time and again that he is one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Although maybe not at the level he once was - no doubt having him between the posts will surely make managers feel safer against opposition attacking threats. Neuer currently has 108 caps for Germany and most of his domestic career, he has served to play for Bayern Munich. Similar to Muller - Neuer has experience working under Flick already so he is sure to impose Flick’s style of play.
