The Netherlands proved just how dominant of a force they can be during their 10 match qualifier games, having only lost 1 game in their group. It is hard to determine what was the most dominant game of their qualifying games. Their 4-0 win against Montenegro, their 6-1 win against Turkey which saw Memphis Depay get a hattrick.
However, the game we are highlighting is the 6-0 victory over Gibraltar. Granted, it’s fair to say that the Netherlands were expected to win this game - however, their sheer persistence throughout the game followed Virgil van Dijk’s early header. Memphis Depay could have walked away with the match ball should his missed penalty converted too.
Time will tell on how the Netherlands will perform in this year’s World Cup tournament in Qatar. With a plethora of world-class talent and a manager who is hungry to progress as far as possible. It will be hard to see another team in this tournament who will be as hungry as the Netherlands national side.
